the weekend according to my iphone pictures

1. Kevin has given 2 gross hats; 1 of which he re-gifted to his friend, Cole :)
2. Board game night. Boys vs. Girls.
3. We were up bright and early Saturday morning to help some friends move.
4. Said friends moved to a new place that had not one, but two claw-foot bathtubs, the picture shows you that there was also a sky light. In the bathroom!
5. This dream home also had a ready-made birdhouse in the backyard. How sweet :)
6. It was documented that Kevin and I are nerds. (pun intended)

big girl list

The other day I was walking int work, satchel over my shoulder, fumbling with keys, and I glanced down at my beautiful watch (Christmas gift from Kevin. Good job babe!) to check the time. All of a sudden, in that moment, I felt like such an adult. And not just an adult, but a classy adult
Big difference.
But yeah- I felt like such a big girl! I really think it had to do with the fact that I checked my wrist watch for the time instead of looking at my phone. (Or the fact that I was even wearing a wrist watch.)
Whatever spawned this feeling, it got me to thinking about other habits or instances in which I feel grown up and/or classy. Am I weird for thinking about this? Probably so, but I did come up with a pretty good list of things. & I knew you'd all be dying to know so here they are;

Ordering 'water with lemon' when eating out

Writing a check

The fact that I have Pride and Prejudice downloaded on my kindle right now. (even though it doesn't currently stand a chance against the Hunger Games.)

When someone asks the date and I actually know it.

That one time last Summer Kevin and I went to our local farmer's market & bought home made jam!

So, that is all.
I must be off to do more grown up things. watching a red box DVD and eating cheese..

I don't know about you, but it is actually really hard for me to buy something that isn't on sale. I have always been a bargain shopper; and usually, the clearance rack is the first thing I head to in a store. This past weekend we did a little shopping and I got some great deals!
& I kinda feel that the only thing better than scoring great deals is sharing/bragging about them to other people!
So indulge me :)

The first thing were these super-cute socks-
I know what you're thinking; socks? Yes, socks. But these were actually an unintentional buy. See, we were going bowling with some friends, when I realized that I was wearing my toms.
No socks+bowling alley shoes= yuck.
So we stopped at wal greens where I found these cute little guys! & we ended up not even going bowling. ($4 cover charge just to get into the bowling alley?! Come on Starkville!) But I'm so happy about my star-y socks anyway :)

OPI Nail polish- $4.99!!!
I found this little gem on clearance at Ulta. It's called steady as she rose. I'm not too much of a nail polish snob (have you ever met one of those?!) but I might start to be, because this stuff is awesome! It's not all goopy like the cheap stuff I usually get, and dried really fast too.

This snazzy headband at Charlotte Russe- $2.99!!

How cute?!
I'm a total sucker for anything turquoise lately, and if you can stick it in my hair then all the better.
love this little thing :)
A few other items to add to the list was a scarf for $9.50 and some sunglasses for about the same price!
woop woop!
I love not spending money I don't have ;)

PA party!

Cheesy-iPhone-screen-pic BUUUUUUT
I'm going HOME!!!
Just for a short visit; nothing to be alarmed about. But I am so very excited to see my sweet family and some lovely PA people.
Counting down the days staring now!

link up love.

I had so many little things that made me smile this week.
Here are just a few;

Oscar making this face-
What is that? Like a snaggle-tooth sort of thing? Only it's his lip.. snaggle-lip..?
I don't know, but it's hysterical.

I have a weird thing for tea-pots.
If it weren't for elephants I know I'd collect crazy looking tea pots and have them scattered about :)
We went to a Japanese place last weekend and Kevin ordered hot tea, which arrived at our table in this little number;
So cute :)

I found Boy Meets World on tv this week! And a super early episode too! Good shows on tv are such a rarity anymore.

I do love me some chick-fil-a..

& to round it all off; another foodie one.
Nutella is best when eaten in bed, on graham crackers while furiously reading the Hunger Games.
Just sayin.

It seems lately, I've been having a few 'bleh' days.
Have you ever had one of those?
It's not really a 'bad' day, just a
yep, just call me Webster.
Anywho, the other night I felt the urge to read through some of my old journals. I've been writing on and off since I was about twelve. All of my journals occupy a bottom bookshelf in our living room. Every now and then I like to pull one out and read a random entry. I even found one where I wrote about the first time I shaved my legs! haha yes, such important things to write about as a 12-year old .
The  entry I stumbled upon last night was dated February 23rd 2009. I was in Uganda. I start out the page by writing how much I didn't feel like writing that day. I'm so glad I did anyway.
On this day I went with my dad and some others to an orphanage called 'Our own Home.'
If I remember correctly there were between 30-40 children at this home. What I do remember for certain was that each one of these lovely children were HIV positive. I remember they showed us around this place they called home, showing us their beds and drawings they had hung on the walls. Then they took us outside and all lined up because they wanted to sing a song for us.
It was so beautiful.
The song went like this;

I have a living hope.
 I have a future.
God has a plan for me.
Of this I'm sure, of this I'm sure!

Is this something to give you some perspective on life or what?
40 beautiful children most under the age of 10 with a deadly, incurable illness singing about how God has a future and plan for their lives; which is completely true
And here I am grumbling through my easy-peasy American life, never encountering anything or anyone that might be somewhat life threatening to me at all. What right do I have to be down about anything?
I have it so good!
I didn't go through all of this to bring guilt to anyone, and I'm not saying that I'm never going have a bad (or bleh) day. Of course things happen! But how often do the little things that get under my skin have no significance at all? And most often I let those little things completely ruin my day.
I hope I can remember these sweet little ones I met in Uganda, who smile through the storm.
They put their hope in the one who never lets us down.
I hope I can remember that and smile too.
Even on my bleh days.

This past week;

in one word or phrase- I blinked and it was over. (I still can't believe it's 2012?!)

I'm dreaming of you- plane ticket home. 1 more paycheck and I should be able to finally purchase you!

song on repeat- Jesus Culture; You are Faithful.I cry out for love, you set me apart.

gotta write it down-"If grace is water then the church should be an ocean. It's not a museum of good people; it's a hospital for the broken." --Guy from this video

lesson learned- Skyping friends and family is magic. Why don't I use that more often?

highlight of the week- Getting some fro-yo with good friends, which I had been craving for ages! (hot fudge on top; please & thank you.)

picture to frame- Sweet puppies :)

weekend to do list- Relaaxxx! Long week ahead. Also I should probably think about dusting the apartment. (think about it..)

I really miss this.
I realized today that its been nearly 3 years since I was in Africa last.
Three years.
Someday's 3 years feels like another lifetime.
And other days, I can just close my eyes and breathe really deep; and I swear its like I'm back in that moment.
You know how people will say; "Go to your happy place" ?
This is my happy place.

rolling around in my head

The world says to follow your heart, but if you are not leading it, then someone or something else is.
"The heart is more deceitful than all else"- Jeremiah 17:9
It will always pursue that which feels right at the moment.

Taken from Living the Love Dare, a Christmas gift from mom & dad :)

Bear Grylls has nothing on us

can I take a moment just to tell you how stinkin' beautiful it
has been here the past few days?!
It feels like April outside! It was nearly 70 degrees yesterday.
My husband & some of our sweet friends (but mostly my husband) decided we should take advantage of this glorious weather with an overnight camp out!
Let me tell you- I'm about the furthest from out-doorsy as they come, but we have these things called ENO's
Ever heard of one?
They are hammocks made out of parachute material & generally used for camping. Again, I'm not out-doorsy,  but I could fall (& have fallen) asleep in one of these puppies in a heartbeat.
Kevin has really pushed me out of my comfort zone when it comes to trying new, out-doorsy things. I have hiked, camped, rock climbed, kayaked; you name it, because I know those are things he really loves to do. I think it's important for couples to try out each others hobbies, even if it takes a little getting used to.

Anywho-we strung up our eno's in our friends yard & had a mini-camp out.

(Never mind Kevin's attire. He really gets into these things)

I may have gone inside just before mid-night and slept in an actual bed-but my heart was in the right place :)
Oh, & did I mention this was right on a beautiful lake?
Yeah; gorgeous!
